So what do we have on our hands in ‘The X-Files’? What we do have is the tendency of wanting to believe, which is personified by special agent Fox Mulder, and to contrast this we have the skepticism and scientific rationale of Dana Scully. It started off as any other regular series but soon became a pop culture sensation that tapped into the people’s mistrust of the government and large institutions, while combining it with conspiracy theories and spirituality. It has received acclaim throughout its run, with its actors receiving praise for their performances. The show bears similarities to ‘ The Twilight Zone‘ and ‘ Twin Peaks‘ in that it dabble with the possibility of the paranormal.
